TREEHOUSE

Treehouse Location Strategy

Treehouse locations were considered based on the opportunities provided by the landscape, including topography, existing trees, and proximity to the community center.

With further study of creek setback requirements, terrain conditions, and accessibility, the location in the maps below emerged as the most suitable area to develop a treehouse destination, while maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding landscape.

Treehouse location studies and proposed final location for design

Two treehouse options are proposed with different nature sourced materials and construction methods. Both aim to create a structure that feels embedded in the forest while providing shelter, identity, and a memorable gathering destination.

Treehouse Design 1

The first treehouse  option uses an A frame roof to create a light, floating feeling above the platform.

Thatch is proposed as the roof covering

material, forming a soft hat like canopy

over the deck. The thick natural roof gives

the treehouse a stronger visual identity

while keeping the platform open, shaded,

and connected to the surrounding forest.

Treehouse Design 2

The second option explores a more familiar

house-like form, using a triangular

roof set on a rectangular base to create

a recognizable and sheltered treehouse

structure. Wood shingles are proposed

as the roof material, giving the building a

warmer and more crafted appearance while

helping it blend naturally into the woodland

environment.
