TRAILS

Proposed Trail Extension

The site is expansive, yet currently only a limited portion is accessible to visitors. This presents an opportunity to introduce a network of trails that can open up the landscape and connect different areas of the site.

By designing a variety of trails with different lengths, difficulty levels, and experiences, the site can support exploration, play, and movement for people of all ages. These trails can also integrate program elements along the way, enhancing engagement and allowing visitors to discover and interact with the site more fully over time.

Nature Play Along the Trail

Nature play integrates elements such as logs, planting, topography, and loose natural materials in place of prescribed play structures. Precedent projects show how these environments can create immersive sensory experiences, introduce manageable risk, and foster stronger connections to the natural landscape.

Storybook Trail

A storybook trail integrates selected books with the landscape, aligning narratives with specific views, themes, or moments along the path. Through curated stories, the trail can explore ideas such as ecology, seasonal change, and life lessons, with opportunities to highlight these through signage or by bringing books into the experience as part of the journey.
